Data Deletion Instructions

You can ask us to delete your El Hawag account and the personal data linked to it at any time. This page explains how, what we delete and what the law requires us to keep. You do not need to sign in, with a password, Google or Facebook, to make a request.

How to request deletion

Every request is handled by our customer service team. There is no deletion button inside the account yet.

  • Contact us on WhatsApp using the button on this page, or call our hotline 16703.
  • Tell us you want your El Hawag account and personal data deleted.
  • Give us the details we need to find your account (listed below).
  • Confirm the request when we contact you to verify it.
  • We delete your data and tell you when it is done.

Information we need to find your account

Please tell us:

  • the email address on your account (if you sign in with Facebook or Google, the email address of that Facebook or Google account);
  • the mobile number on your account;
  • how you sign in: email and password, Google or Facebook;
  • optionally, the number of a recent order.

What we will never ask for

Do not send us your password, card details or verification codes. Nobody from El Hawag will ask for them.

Verification

To protect you from someone deleting your account without permission, we check that the request comes from the account owner. We may call or message the mobile number registered on the account, contact you at its email address, or ask about your account or recent orders. If we cannot verify the request, we will explain what else we need.

What we delete

Once your request is verified, we delete:

  • your profile: name, email address, mobile number and profile picture link;
  • your password and your Google or Facebook sign-in links, including the Facebook app-scoped user ID and the encrypted tokens;
  • your saved addresses, cart and wishlist;
  • your product reviews;
  • your active sessions, which signs the account out on every device.

What we may have to keep

Accounting, tax and consumer-protection laws can require us to keep records of completed orders, payments, refunds and deliveries, including the name, contact and delivery details recorded on them, for a set period. Where the law requires this, we keep only those records and use them only for that obligation. They are no longer connected to a usable account: you cannot sign in to see them, and they are not used for marketing.

Security records may be kept for a limited period to protect the store. Deleted data leaves our encrypted weekly backups as those backups are replaced.

Facebook and Google sign-in

If you signed in with Facebook, your request covers the data associated with your Facebook-linked account: the Facebook app-scoped user ID, the name, email address and profile picture link we received from Facebook, and the encrypted access token, together with the rest of your account data, subject to the records described above. You do not need to sign in with Facebook to ask; the email address of your Facebook account and your mobile number are enough to find it.

You can also remove El Hawag in Facebook: Settings & privacy › Settings › Apps and websites › Remove. This stops Facebook sharing data with us in future but does not delete what we already hold, so please also send us a deletion request.

The same applies to Google: removing El Hawag from your Google Account's third-party connections stops future access, and a deletion request removes what we hold.

After deletion

We will confirm when your request is complete. You will then no longer be able to sign in to the deleted account or see its order history. You are welcome to create a new account later; it will start empty.
